Dara Howlett is a Dublin born artist.
Dara completed a BSc. (Hons) in Furniture Design and Manufacturing in the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) Letterfrack in 2021.
She completed a Level 6 in Furniture Design and Manufacturing in Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute (DFEI) in 2017. In the first year of study, she competed in the Ireland National skills competition.
She was the first and only female to ever have competed and made it to the final ranking top 6 in the county in cabinet making.
She has used many different styles and techniques to create bespoke pieces which often harbor a message of connection to the natural world.
Dara finds herself soothed by the natural elements of the world and takes inspiration from this calm, to create pieces which allow the user to share that sense of relieve experienced while designing and making each piece.
Her designs are inspired by nature and the world around us and these influences are evident through her work as designer and makers.
